Are your gums bleeding? I think it’s time you’re evaluated for a deep cleaning or what we call a scaling and root planning.
Going to your general dentist is the first step in diagnosing the gum disease, gum disease can lead to bad breath, tooth mobility, bleeding gums and more systemic issues such as heart disease
Perhaps it’s been a few years since your last cleaning and your gums are really sore. You’re bleeding a lot while brushing and flossing, and maybe you’ve even noticed your teeth shifting. I think it’s time you’re evaluated for a deep cleaning or what we call a scaling and root planning.
Deep cleanings, can help alleviate many dental health problems by removing soft or hardened plaque from under the gum line, facilitating the healing of gums, and preventing tooth and bone loss and the spread of gum disease. After a full examination, accompanied by a full set of dental x-rays and full mouth pocket depth assessment, you will be scheduled to start your gum treatment (quadrant scaling and root planning).
We normally suggest to split the procedure up into either two or four appointments, but you and your Dr will discuss the pros and cons concerning your specific case. After full local anesthesia is achieved, a combination of ultrasonic instruments and hand scalers will be used to gently, yet efficiently rid your teeth of this harmful buildup.
